Welcome to the Top Fives channel! McDonalds has over the years had a range of interesting Menu items, including at one point Peanut Butter sandwiches in some some of their stores. Today we are checking out the strangest McDonalds Menu items we found from around the World.
5. Yellow Rice with Chicken and Gravy
In 2020, Mcdonald’s in Qatar released a rice dish based on the national rice and chicken dish ‘Machboos’. The meal is a bucket filled with a couple of pieces of crispy fried chicken, placed on top of yellow basmati rice, with a special Mcdonald’s gravy on the side, and a drink of choice.
4. Pizza Bread
McCafe’ in Hong Kong recently branched out in their menu choices by offering a thick-cut pizza cheesy bread with a choice of toppings like; Tuna, Meat or Hawaiian-style chicken and pineapple.
3. Ube McDip
Ube is a purple yam native to the Philippines and used in various Filipino desserts. It recently made an appearance on the menu of a number of McDonalds in the Philippines in the Ube McDip. This strange menu item is a sugar cone filled with vanilla soft serve and a hard Ube sauce shell coated around the outside of the ice cream.
2. Crayfish Grilled Sandwich
For the second time on our list the Hong Kong McDonalds menus lead the way in strange menu items. This time with Crayfish, the food you usually find in fine-dining restaurants, but recently included in Hong Kong McCafe menus. The toasted sandwich is made with ciabatta bread, mixed with egg mayo, and honestly seasoned to perfection.
1. Congee (Porridge)
Congee a porridge made from rice or gruel is a favourite breakfast option in much of China. And in keeping with local culture a number of McDonalds in China have included it in their breakfast menus. The breakfast item can include chicken, but you can choose whether you would prefer to have a preserved egg or pickled veg and crispy bamboo shoots with it instead.
